Duo Bressan - Roma (bassoon and piano)

duoroma.jpg

The pleasure for discovery, creativity and a variety of routes are the stepping-stones of the Bressan-Roma duo, a project that has the proposal to expand the bassoon piano repertoire through the arrangement or adaptation of pieces not originally written for this ensemble.
The two musicians met in 2006 during an important tour in Holland while playing in trio with the oboist Bart Schneemann. After this experience, Andrea and Igor (the latter prize winner of the Utrecht contest in 1996 and acclaimed international soloist) decided to form a duo proposing new and particular musical material, a pretext to explore the expressive technical possibilities of the piano bassoon duo not only via the standard repertoire but also by opening spaces to music from different geographic and musical experiences and areas.
Amongst the most interesting choices in this long and articulated work there is a repertoire of music from Argentina and Brazil (with classical authors as Villa Lobos and Piazzolla and other musicians from the jazz and traditional legacy as Hermeto Pacoal and Egberto Gismonti) and the adaptation of Schumann repertoire for cello and piano (Fantasiestucke op. 73, Drei Romanzen op. 94,  5 stucke in Volkstone op.102).
